The circular from the Department of Education about the new Junior Cycle Schoolbooks Scheme has been sent out to schools. However, you may still have questions about the process or need clarification on some aspects of it given that this is the first year of the Scheme.

We understand that the practicality of rolling out the Scheme in your school is potentially very new to you and Gill Education would like to offer with whatever support we can.

Gill Education covers all the major Junior Cycle subjects. Check out our JC programmes and titles.

The book grant for the Scheme will be paid to schools no later than 31 March 2024 so that you will have the necessary time and funding in place to implement the Scheme in advance of the commencement of the 2024/25 school year.

Remember, you have time to make your decision, so have a look at our Junior Cycle titles and programmes and take the time you need to make the best choice for you and your school. This is an opportunity to take on programmes or titles that you may have been interested in for the past while.

Your local sales rep is your dedicated point of contact with us and is on hand to help you with your decision, so get together any questions you may have and get in touch. Our reps also have previous experience with tendering processes, making them a great support to you in many practical ways, so do make contact!

New Junior Cycle Schoolbooks Scheme: Your FAQs answered

Q. I’m under pressure to select my books for next year. Do these need to be ordered immediately?

A. Not at all. The grant covers you for the next 12 months, so you can take your time to make sure the book you’ve chosen is the correct one for your students. We have plenty of stock of all titles, so there’s no need to panic. The funding will also cover the cost of ‘taster’ subjects you may offer in the Autumn period.

Q. Can the books be ordered directly through Gill Education?

A. Of course. We would always encourage our schools to support their local bookshop who will consolidate all titles from various publishers into one order, but our sales reps also have some very special deals available if you wish to order directly.

Q. I’m finding the tender process complicated. Can Gill Education help me with this?

A. Absolutely. We helped hundreds of primary schools last year with their Schoolbooks Scheme grant, so we have expertise, experience and knowledge to help you through the process and ensure you stretch your funding as far as possible.

Q. We are an eBook-only school. Can Gill Education help with this when considering our grant?

A. Yes. We can supply you with a single code for as many licences as you wish across all subjects and titles. Or even better, we can onboard the eBooks for each student at no extra cost to you, once we receive the relevant details, meaning when your students return in September, everything will be set up and ready to go!

We are happy to guide you through the process and provide expert advice on how the new Scheme works best for you and your school. We will also provide a tailored pricing model for you, to ensure you get the best deals possible and maximise the funding! So don’t make any decisions before talking to us.
