Gill Sustainability Statement

At Gill, we recognise our responsibility to protect the environment and contribute to a sustainable future. We are committed to minimising our ecological footprint and promoting social responsibility. Our dedication to sustainability is woven into the fabric of our organisation, guiding our decisions and actions – from responsible sourcing and production to community engagement and support – as we work towards creating a better world through information and education.

Our Commitment:

Environmental Stewardship: We strive to reduce our impact on the planet by implementing eco-friendly practices throughout our operations. This includes minimizing paper usage and sourcing materials responsibly

Climate Action: We actively support efforts to combat climate change. We generate our own electricity using solar panels and recycle waste within our warehouse and offices. We strive to use print services and paper responsibly, publishing in digital and print formats.

Ethical Publishing: We uphold ethical standards in our content creation and distribution. We seek to champion diverse voices and promote inclusivity.

Community Engagement: We actively engage with our local communities. Through educational programs, partnerships, and outreach, we raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire positive change.

Supply Chain Responsibility: We work closely with suppliers and vendors who share our commitment to sustainability. We prioritise ethical sourcing, fair labour practices, and environmentally conscious production methods. Gill prioritises sustainable forestry by exclusively using suppliers certified by either the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). These certifications ensure that the wood products used in the production of our books come from sustainably managed forests that meet rigorous environmental, social, and economic standards. By choosing certified suppliers and materials, Gill contributes to responsible forestry practices in the production of our print products, in alignment with the EU Timber Regulation 2013 and forthcoming EU Deforestation Regulation (effective December 30th 2025).

Continuous Improvement: We recognize that sustainability is an ongoing journey. We regularly assess our practices, set ambitious goals, and adapt to emerging best practices.
