A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, creative and enthusiastic Marketing & Publicity Manager to join our team. As Marketing & Publicity Manager, you will oversee the promotion strategies for Gill Books’ annual list of publications (approximately 60 books per year).
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will be passionate about bringing our books to the largest possible readership. The ideal candidate will have experience in devising strategic and effective promotional campaigns and, alongside the team, you will be responsible for executing these campaigns across many channels (including traditional media, social media, live events and in partnership with key retailers).
With both a creative and detail-oriented approach, you will use your natural flair and excellent project management skills to manage stand-out campaigns that grab reader and media attention. Interacting closely with authors, media, key retailers, as well as Gill Books’ sales and editorial teams, you will have exceptional communications skills, pitching your plans and ideas effectively and persuasively to win coverage and support for our books.
You will have exceptional copy-writing skills, developing and adapting the key messages of our books into winning press releases and online content that help our books stand out from the crowd. Your deep knowledge of the media landscape, and established network of national broadcast, print and online media contacts, will be matched by your natural ability to network and keep up with the rapidly changing media landscape. You will demonstrate an ability to offer exceptional care and attentive communication with our authors, guiding them confidently through the promotion process and preparing them adequately for interviews and events.
The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, with strong organisational skills and an ability to meet deadlines. A multitasker, you will have demonstrable experience prioritising and managing time effectively whilst being able to think on your feet and adapt campaigns effortlessly as they evolve from planning stage to implementation.
A real interest in the publishing process and an understanding of the key role marketing and publicity play in driving book sales is a must. Your passion and enthusiasm for our titles will make you an excellent ambassador for Gill Books and an important player in building and maintaining key networks with authors, media, online communities and retail partners. You will be joining an energetic, successful and passionate team, playing a central role in bringing exciting stories and ideas into the world - and into the hearts and minds of readers.
