We're Hiring! IT Technician

Gill, Ireland’s leading Publisher of Educational and Trade titles and Distributor to over 50 Client Publishers in Ireland, is seeking an IT Technician to join the ICT Department and assist the ICT Manager in the running of the department in an effective, efficient and customer focused manner.


The successful IT Technician will be organised and motivated, with good communication skills. You will be supporting our enterprise systems and user community in our Dublin offices, as well as remotely around the country, on issues that require a blend of hardware and software experience.


Overall Responsibilities for the IT Technician include:

  • Provide Level 1 support to all company hardware, including laptops, desktops, mobile phones, tablets and printers
  • Ensure laptops, desktops, mobile phones and tablets interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems, including associated file servers, email servers, printers, servers and administrative systems
  • Working closely with vendor support to resolve technical problems with software
  • Effectively articulate complex information to a variety of technical and non-technical users
  • Troubleshoot and drive customer support requests to a satisfactory and timely resolution
  • Support the administration of our server’s hardware and software
  • Assist other departments with projects as required
  • Maintain and enhance your technical skills
  • Create and maintain customer support documentation and internal user guidelines
  • Provide regular status updates to the ICT Manager
  • Any other tasks and projects assigned by the ICT Manager

Experience / Qualifications

  • Experience in installing and troubleshooting hardware / software issues with laptops, desktops, servers, printers, tablets and mobile phones, in-person or remotely via relevant software
  • Good understanding of network fundamentals within a business environment
  • Experience in using helpdesk software is an advantage
  • In-house training will be provided on all in-house systems
  • Computer science / computer technician qualifications is an advantage
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desired
