Gill Education welcomes proposals from first time and experienced authors alike. All subject areas are of interest.
If you feel that the textbook you are using could be improved upon and you have your own ideas on how to do it, why not submit a proposal to us. It should include the following:
- A general overview of your idea and who it’s for
- An outline of the work highlighting any unique features (i.e. how this project differs from existing publications)
- A preliminary table of contents (to give us an idea of the structure of the project)
- A brief biography of you the author, detailing how long you have been teaching the subject in question and where
Once we have evaluated your proposal, we will be in touch with feedback and may want to discuss your proposal in more detail. All proposals are treated in confidence.
Proposals for Primary should be emailed to Emma O’Dwyer or posted to:
Emma O’Dwyer: Primary Schools
Proposals for Secondary should be emailed to Emily Lynch (English, Maths, Technologies, Geography, History, CSPE), Suzanna Henry (Irish, French, German, Spanish, Home Ec, Religion, SPHE, Art) or Margaret Burns (Business and Science) or posted to:
Publishing Dept: Secondary Schools

Publishing with Gill Education
At Gill Education, we aim to make the task of writing and publishing your book as smooth as possible by offering you assistance in areas where we have expertise. Publishing is a team activity; coordinating and optimising the talents not just of authors and editors, but also of marketing personnel, sales people, and those involved in production, distribution, and support services.
Here’s how it works:
The Publisher is the author’s main contact, from the very first discussion of the project through to publication and beyond. Gill Education publishers work closely with the author to discuss project ideas, assess the viability of proposals, and to develop manuscripts. Personal contact with the author is maintained throughout the life of a project, as the publisher is always available to deal with queries.
Production and Editorial
Your book will be assigned a Managing Editor who will manage it through the editorial and production process. This process can include editing, picture research, commissioning illustrations, page make-up, proofing, indexing and finally, printing or digital production. Our experienced designers, copy-editors, typesetters and proofreaders are committed to producing the best possible books on time.
Marketing, Sales & Distribution
Our marketing team will develop the presentation and promotion of your book/digital product and, along with our experienced sales team, will ensure effective market penetration. Sales representatives visit schools and academic institutions nationwide to promote new texts and our sample copy distribution service ensures all relevant teachers/lecturers receive a complimentary copy of your book for inspection.
All new titles are promoted and available to purchase on our website. Additional resources may also be accessed on gilleducation.ie.
